Sealaska Heritage Institute (SHI) has announced the dates for its 10th annual Culturally Responsive Education Conference. Educators, administrators, university faculty and community members are welcome to attend.

The yearly conference aims to provide educators and administrators with a deep understanding of culturally responsive education and equips them to transform their classrooms, pedagogy and curriculum to fully support all students’ success, especially those who have been historically underserved, disenfranchised and marginalized by colonized systems.

The event will be held Aug. 3-5, 2027, in Centennial Hall in downtown Juneau. Featured elements will be available virtually as well.

More information, including the keynote speaker, theme and livestream access will be announced in the coming months. For more information and to stay in the know about important dates, anyone interested in attending should sign up for updates at this link.

“Integrating Indigenous values and knowledge into the programs, institutions and public policies serving Alaska Natives is essential in sustaining our cultural vitality for current and future generations,” said Dr. Rosita Ḵaaháni Worl, president of SHI. “This conference is a welcoming space for participants to learn about and contribute to academic and professional conversations working to progress our Native languages, arts and cultures.”
